Ripping Out SACRIFICE's Guts | Devlog #1

Since the publishing of SACRIFICE, I have had many regrets on what I wanted to have added and what I hadn't due to the limited time I had at the time of its publishing. This is the first in a series of posts where I will be documenting the changes and additions which will be coming in future updates.

Working Late

hopefully you will be more competant than the last servant...

The first changes coming involve what happens at the end of every workday. Previously, once the timer runs out, the game simply checks whether you have acquired enough souls, The Lich either is pleased but neutral, or lashes out and closes the game in anger. The first change is that failing to meet the required amount of souls will no longer cause you to immediately fail, instead, you will have 1 extra chance before The Lich lashes out at you.

The next change will be your wage (and living expenses). At the end of the day, you will receive compensation for your labor, which your living expenses will promptly be deducted from. The leftover coin will carry over from day to day and will have a purpose in the future which will be fleshed out in the future. As it stands, it will be used to hire underlings for yourself to more quickly gather souls.

The final changes coming to the end of day scene involve your conversations with The Lich. In the future, shortly before being paid, you will be prompted to have a conversation with The Lich. Through the conversation, you will be able to gather knowledge about the history of the Lich, as well as its weaknesses. There will be a series of dialog options to choose from, which will affect its mood and openness, keep on its good side for long enough and The Lich might even be more lenient towards your failures. And if you dig far enough, you might even discover The Lich's greatest weakness.
